Before he found mainstream success, Scrappy was recording and selling his own mixtapes out of the trunk of his car at local strip clubs and flea markets. He first started performing publicly at Club Legacy in Atlanta, where he quickly became a favorite among the teenagers who frequented the establishment. It wasn’t long before Vince Phillips, an executive and producer for BME Recordings, discovered him while he was performing one night.
Scrappy was one of the first artists to sign with Lil Jon’s BME Recordings. With the record label, he released a split album titled “The King of Crunk & BME Recordings Present: Trillville & Lil Scrappy”. The album contained his song on one side of the disc and Trillville’s songs on another side.
After the release of his album “Bred 2 Die Born 2 Live”, the rapper Young Buck became a household name.
