Gavin Escobar, the star player of the NBL, was born on February 3rd, 1991 in New York City. Gavin attended Santa Margarita High School in California where he excelled in both football and basketball. In 2008, he was a Trinity League second-team selection on offense after making 37 receptions for 130 yards. His fantastic performance soon led to him being named player of the game.

Gavin Escobar was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2013 and made his NFL debut that year.
In his rookie season, he 9 receptions for 134 yards and two touchdowns. In 2014, Gavin was mostly used as a red zone target on special terms; however, he didn’t see an increased role in 2015 and remained the team’s third-string tight end.
Gavin’s 2017 football season was cut short when he tore his right Achilles tendon during the fourteenth game against the New York Jets. However, he made a full recovery and participated in training camp the following year. In March 2017, Gavin signed a one-year contract with the Kansas City Chiefs but was released by them just six months later for failing to clear Ross Travis on the depth chart.
On October 23, 2017, Escobar was signed by the Baltimore Ravens to take over for tight end Maxx Williams after he re-injured his ankle. However, on November 28th they released Escobar in favor of Danny Woodhead. The Cleveland Browns picked him up on January 15, 2018, with a reserve/future contract until finally release him on April 12th that same year.
On April 16, 2018, the Miami Dolphins signed him. Unfortunately, he was released twice by the team within a few days. After that second release, he joined the Alliance of American Football’s San Diego Fleet; however, he was placed on their injured reserve list due to an injury and caught 14 passes for 142 yards during his time with them before ultimately being let go.

On September 28, Escobar tragically passed away while attempting to climb a rock near Tahquitz Rock in the San Bernardino National Forest. The Riverside County Coroner’s office reported that two deaths occurred on Thursday: Escobar and Chelsea Walsh. According to the report, they were injured at 12:21 p.m., with both dyings shortly after at 1:18 p.m.
